Things to Do
Camp Merritt Memorial Monument is an iconic Cresskill landmark at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Knickerbocker Road. Better known to locals as simply “The Monument,” this 66-foot-tall replica of the Washington Monument commemorates the million-plus soldiers who passed through the area on their way to fight in the first World War. There are several properties within Cresskill dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These places include the Blackledge-Gair House, Demarest-Atwood House, Peter Huyler House, and Benjamin P. Westervelt House.
